Behind the name LU-LU BEAR.

Behind the name LU-LU BEAR.

Every business has a story, and ours begins with love, loss, and a very special girl named Lucy.

LU-LU BEAR is named after my heart dog, Lucy—an American Black Labrador Retriever who was so much more than a pet. She was my best friend, my fur baby, and one of the best dogs I've ever had the privilege of knowing. Among her many nicknames, LU-LU BEAR was the one that stuck, the name I called her most often, filled with all the affection and warmth she brought into my life.

Lucy had sensitive skin and struggled with allergies to many things, including most commercial dog skincare products. Watching her deal with these sensitivities sparked something in me—a desire to create something better, something gentler, something made with care and intention. Years ago, I began developing what would eventually become LU-LU BEAR Handcrafted Skincare. I spent years perfecting the formulations, learning, experimenting, and dreaming of the day I could finally launch the brand. That day came in 2022.

But 2022 brought heartbreak too. That same year, Lucy passed away, leaving a void that no amount of time could fully fill. Devastated by her loss, I needed a way to keep her close, to honor her memory, and to channel my grief into something meaningful.

I transformed Lucy's bedroom—yes, she had her own room complete with a queen-size bed and countless toys—into my official soap room. It became my sanctuary, my creative space, and a place where I feel her presence every single day. Above the doorway, I've kept her collection of holiday collars, and her pictures are displayed throughout the room, watching over every product I create.

Every bar of soap, every skincare product that bears the LU-LU BEAR name, is made in that room with Lucy's spirit guiding my hands. She may no longer be here in body, but she's very much a part of this journey. Her legacy lives on in every product we create—crafted with the same love, gentleness, and care that she deserved.

LU-LU BEAR isn't just a name. It's a tribute to an extraordinary girl who taught me what unconditional love truly means.
